In a press release on November 8th, Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) announced that they will eliminate all man made snow jumps from all terrain parks. The company indicated that in order to focus on safety they will be moving in a new direction. Apparently the risk of serious injury occurring due to "big air" was too great in the eyes of RCR.
Personally I believe this a very poor decision that was made by individuals who most likely have never hit a jump in their lives. If you are stupid enough to critically injure yourself in the terrain park, you are probably also dumb enough to fall off the chair lift. Apparently the jumps will be replaced with new state-of-the-art rail features that will cater to a wide range of abilities in a non intimidating environment. I have a great idea! Lets replace all of the snow jumps with metal objects scattered all over the hill. Broken hip here I come!
If you purchased a season pass from an RCR resort, you probably have only a limited time before you can get a refund. Did you notice how RCR released the news after the season pass sale finished?
This means that there will be no jumps at the following RCR resorts this year:
- Lake Louise
- Fernie
- Kimberley
- Nakiska
- Mont-Sainte-Anne
- Stoneham

Nov. 30 deadline for refund!
November 30, 2007 was the deadline to get a refund for your pass from RCR.
This is crazy!
This is the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time. It is almost 2008 and the idiots are taking out all of the jumps. I really hope Sunshine and Norquay pick it up and have a killer park this year. What a great opportunity for other resorts.
